Tahoma (West Shore)
Low to moderately priced. Popular with locals. Close to Sugar Pine Park and Bliss State Park. A lot to offer for the price!
Rubicon (West Shore)
Quiet; family-oriented. Close to Emerald Bay and Bliss State Park. Beautiful private and public sandy beaches. Spectacular views. Prices vary according to view, location, and age of property.
Meeks Bay/Glenridge (West Shore)
Perfect for summer fun, with white sandy beaches and open settings. This area abounds with lake-view homes. Occasionally, lakefronts are available.
Homewood (West Shore)
Close to ski area and marina, restaurants, and some shopping, this is a very desirable area with many lakefront homes.
Tahoe Pines (West Shore)
A nice level area with some woodsy and secluded areas. All have access to a beautiful sandy beach and pier next to the million-dollar-plus Fleur du Lac condos (where the former Kaiser estate used to be).
Timberland (West Shore)
Timberland's makeup is much like Pine Land, but tends to be more forested and provides less sun exposure. The Hurricane Bay public beach is within a mile.
Tahoe Park/Sunnyside (West Shore)
A level, easy-access area with cabins and homes in somewhat close proximity to each other. Most are on fifty-foot lots in woodsy areas. Popular for its gated association beach with two piers, playground, and picnic area.
Tahoe City (West Shore)
This area is within walking distance of the elementary school and downtown. Most homes here are older and many are rented to locals. Homes and rare legal duplexes are mixed in quality and upkeep.
Bunker Tract (West Shore)
Behind the golf course in Tahoe City; consists mainly of permanent residents due to its proximity to Tahoe City and the elementary school. Most homes are in quiet, secluded settings. Close to churches, the community center, and downtown businesses.
Lake Forest (North Shore)
Homes are mixed in this area, with many older cabins and homes. Some are quality upgrades. Some nicer homes are near or on the lake, but rarely come on the market.
Cedar Flat (North Shore)
Low-elevation area with homes that are close to lake or on the lakefront; association pier. Some homes have lake views.
Carnelian Heights (North Shore)
A nice, secluded area with a high percentage of permanent residents. Woodsy setting with a mix of older and newer homes.
Carnelian Bay (North Shore)
A high percentage of permanent residents; a mix of older and newer homes. Low-elevation, level neighborhood.
Agate Bay (North Shore)
Moderate to high-priced houses in wooded settings. Homes in this area have excellent rental histories due to the Sun Club pier and pool plus two tennis court locations. Lakefronts are close to the highway with easy access.
Tahoe Vista (North Shore)
A level neighborhood of mixed older cabins and newer homes within walking distance of a public beach, marina, and restaurants.
Tahoe Estates (North Shore)
Above Tahoe Vista; a potpourri of very nice homes and older cabins, usually with lake views.
Wood Vista (North Shore)
Located near or on the Old Brockway golf course, this area is gradually being upgraded.
Kings Beach (North Shore)
Kings Beach has the best housing values on the North Shore. A mix of old and new homes and cabins; close to casinos, shopping, beach, and dining.
Crystal Bay (North Shore)
Similar to Incline Village; steep and narrow roads and granite boulders. Not as many amenities as Incline Village. Many homes have stunning lake views.
Incline Village (North Shore)
Desirable area. Amenities include two private beaches, two 18-hole golf courses, downhill and cross-country skiing, and a newer recreation complex with pool, tennis courts, community buildings, and picnic areas. Many new custom homes on large lots.
Sand Harbor (North Shore)
Beautiful sandy beach, one of the nicest beachs at the lake. There are no homes at Sand Harbor. There is an admission fee to enter the park.
Glenbrook (East Shore)
Exclusive gated community on the East Shore.
